Some customers use the smooth reverse felt side on top as a cushioned surface for crafting purposes.
 
Although it is usually wider than the average table, you can cut it and use the surplus width to make place mats which will come in useful for other occasions. The fabric cuts easily with most scissors and there is a pattern to follow to ensure you get a straight line.
